REPORTED SPEECH
A project presented by groups of
students from Khaled Ben Al-Waleed Secondary School in Jordan collaborated with
groups of students in China .Many thanks for Mr. Yuang and his students in
China for their valuable efforts to make the aims of the project

can...
A. Quote
the exact words (direct speech)
Ali said: "I went to bed early last night."
B. Give
the meaning of what was said without using the exact words.
Ali said that he had gone to bed early the night before.
C. In
reported speech a number of changes occur in the reported clause:
o
Quotation marks are not used.
o
The word "that" is often used to
introduce the reported clause.
o
The pronoun often changes.
o
The verb usually changes.
